Inmates are allowed two 1/2 hour visits each week. Only two visitors are allowed to visit at one time (including children). Inmates are allowed only one appointment per day. Appointments must be made at least a day in advance by calling the appointment line (502.921.4428). The appointment line is only open Monday thru Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

   
  Visitor Rules
 
  1. All visitors must have a picture ID and will be subject to background investigation.
  2. The only items you will be allowed to bring into the facility are a picture ID and vehicle keys. No purses, cell phones, or cameras are allowed in the facility. No food or drinks are allowed in the facility.
  3. Visitors must be properly dressed and must remain so during any visits. Sleeveless tops, belly shirts, or too short skirts/shorts shall not be worn. Any visitor deemed not properly dressed by the jail staff will not be allowed to visit.
  4. There will be no use of tobacco products on jail property (inside or outside). These items are considered contraband if they are brought into the building. Leave these items in your vehicle.
  5. If you leave the lobby area, you will not be permitted to return that day.
  6. Children are to be supervised at all times. No running in the waiting area or visiting room. No one under the age of 18 is allowed in the visiting area without a parent or guardian.
  7. Visitors must remain seated while visiting.
  8. Loud, foul or abusive language will result in your visit being cancelled.

NOTE: These rules are subject to change at the Bullitt County Detention Center's discretion.



 

The Bullitt County Detention Center does not do any Releases or Bonding between 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. All bonds should be made at the Clerk's office Monday thru Friday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

After hours and on weekends bonds can be made at the Detention Center at Door 118.

Personal Recognizance (ROR) - Your personal recognizance, provided that you promise to appear at all scheduled hearings, trials, or otherwise as required by the Court.

Unsecured Bond or Surety Bond - An unsecured appearance bond from you or your surety to be forfeited should you fail to appear as required by the Court. Surety’s must be a KY resident with a valid Drivers License or KY ID, be at least 18 years of age, employed, have no pending/convicted felony charges, and cannot be the Defendant/Co-Defendant in the case.

Partially Secured Bond - Cash bail secured by cash deposit of 10% of the deposit (but no less than $5) will be retained if you are found guilty and the court determines you have performed the conditions of your release. The entire cash bond will be forfeited should you fail to appear as requested by the court.

All payments of bonds must be in cash with exact change. Bonds over $10,000.00 cash or above and Property Bonds will have to be made in the Circuit/County Clerk's office depending on case.

Weekenders - Anyone sentenced to serve weekends must pay all fees in full at time of booking. Pending on days sentenced will apply to fees.

Circuit Work Release - Fees will be paid weekly with no exceptions.

District Work Release - Fees will be paid weekly with no exceptions.


 

Bullitt County Detention Center will not accept any property from visitors.



 

All programs at the Bullitt County Detention Center are structured to create an environment for positive change in the offender's life, so they can better serve the community as productive citizens when released.

GED - Classes to prepare and improve individuals for final testing to obtain their GED certificate.

Money in the form of a money order must be made out to BCDC/Inmate Name. Cash can be taken at the window inside the lobby from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday - Saturday. After hours, bring a money order to #118.


Medical Services

 

Provided 7 days a week / 12 hours per day by Southern Health Partners.


Mail

 

All mail is subject to be read and inspected, with the exception of privledged mail. All mail must be in a plain envelope with no other markings except the address and stamp. Incoming mail shall be sent to, Inmates Name at Bullitt Co. Detention Center, 1671 South Preston Hwy, Shepherdsville, Ky. 40165. Any mail found to be unacceptable will be returned to sender. Inmates are allowed 4 pictures per envelope. Only photos up to the size of 4x6 on photography paper shall be accepted. If an excess of photographs are found in inmates possesion they will be removed and placed in property.


Inmate Phones

 

The inmate phone system is through Combined Public Communications. If the person you are calling has a question or trouble with the phone they should call them directly at 1-800-849-6081. Phone cards can be purchased through commissary for $10.00 & $20.00.
